Owasso High School West Library

Hi! My name is Heather Shuck, and I'm the Library Media Specialist at the West Campus of Owasso High School. I have two young children, and my husband also works for Owasso Public Schools, where he teaches English. This is my tenth year as a librarian at OHS and my fifteenth total year working in libraries. As a lifelong reader and student of literature, I received my bachelor's degree in education from Oklahoma City University. My first professional job was teaching Algebra I at OHS for five years.  Then I earned my master's degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma. While in school, I worked as a graduate research assistant in the OU-Tulsa Library. After grad school, I became an elementary school librarian for a few years before I made my way back to Owasso High School.
Through my years of work experience in libraries, universities, and schools, I have learned what research skills students need for success in high school, college, and beyond, and it's my mission to teach these skills to the students at Owasso High School. Additionally, I love reading and can't wait to discuss books with you!
The OHS West Library strives to be a learning commons for the school. We provide students with many opportunities for engagement, learning, and fun throughout the year, including special events, clubs, displays, author visits, field trips, giveaways, and contests.
