my name is Meghann Kannett and I teach English at Owasso High School I graduated high school from Owasso I went and received my bachelor's from NSU in education I come from a long line of Educators and so most of them are here in Owasso with me and I wanted to come back and teach them in the same school that I grew up in a graduated from I became a teacher in hopes of achieving what we call what to do which is to make a difference I did not become a teacher to try to change the world but just to simply make a difference in my students lives whether that be giving them confidence academically or encouraging them through pursuing their goals and their dreams or just simply supporting them in their talents I want them to know that they have someone in their corner these qualities were instilled in me as a student here at Owasso and so I hope to pass them on and help foster my students through these elements as well As you can see on the wall behind me Ms. Kannett does a lot of marathons and has done that over the years I think that really contribute to how she relates to students just her drive and her grit she really help students develop that and helps them see that there's a lot more to their story than the right now helps them develop that perspective which is huge when you're working with high schoolers to help them see beyond the Here and Now I really think Miss Kannett for all that she does to make sure that she connects with students and help them develop their story I am very humbled and honored being selected teacher of the year I'm very proud of receiving that honor I'm proud of my students I'm proud of our school and I'm proud of our community and so I take a lot of pride in being a teacher at the Owasso High School my name is Meghann Kannett and I am an Owasso Ram! I am Asian McCammon and I'm a history teacher over here at Owasso High School I mean day one it was me and Mark officer when he was the principal at that time we had such a funny and quirky interaction that to me lead me to beclieve I can be my authentic self here and first thing he was like Hey if you need me let me know if you don't this all your domain and so for me that was such a huge transformation because I know what I'm doing and I do it pretty well I would say and so just to have that autonomy within my classroom with my students to be you know just so authentic was amazing and you know with the transition to Tiffany Cooper who has been amazing and all the other Administration and my colleagues we've just been able to better ourselves throughout the years Mrs. McCammon is a positive force of energy here at Owasso High School she is truly amazing and she really makes everybody around her better and staff and students alike I know staff just view her as breaking down barriers for students whatever they need if students come to her and want to learn about a new topic or something she'll push towards that she'll help them find answers to questions that they have she is truly amazing and helping students find their passion and further develop their thought process and we are just so fortunate to have Miss McCammon here at OHS she really does make everybody around her better constantly has a big smile on her face with appreciate her okay so from year to year I really do try to find a way to bond with my students more and because you know they come in my classroom first thing I tried to do is figure out their name and I don't want that to be something that stays I want to know you know what's like one of your hobbies what's some of your passions what's something that I can find in common with one of them because it used to always be a thing which like you know your bond with the students increases your disciplinary issues go down and I was like sure but it was actually a true thing especially whenever you know I got to know them on like the weird things I like look you like movies or oh you like this TV show or you know I told him that my husband plays video games and their like what video games does he like that connection having with them is something I try to do every single year and that really does make a difference I've AsiaMcCammon and I am a Owasso Ram! sch
