Career Connections Program (CCP) - Internship

Through a selection process, qualifying students will be placed with a mentor, be required to submit reflections, turn in hours worked, attend monthly meetings, and obtain evaluations from their supervisor throughout the year. Students will report to their designated Career Connections Program (CCP) teacher until preliminary documentation is completed then students will be released to their placements. Students are expected to fulfill all of the duties and responsibilities as outlined by their supervisor. Students employed by family members will not be considered. Applications are available below and more information can be found in the College and Career Center. Seniors have first priority in filling Career Connections Programs spots. 
 

Prerequisites for all Career Connections Programs: 

2.0 Overall GPA and/or maintain 70% or higher in each class, credit sufficient.

Career Exploration

Grade Level: 11-12
Credit: 1
This two-hour off-campus opportunity allows students to explore potential career paths. Students are partnered with a local business that aligns with the student's career interests. Students report daily to their placement and in most cases, must provide their own transportation. The College and Career Center will assist with a placement that aligns with each student's post-secondary goals. 

Workforce 

Grade Level: 12
Credit: 1
Students must be currently employed and maintain employment throughout the course. Students will receive one hour of credit to leave school sixth hour each day, receive a paycheck for their work, and have the added benefit of being able to open doors to future job opportunities. It does not matter what days of the week or times of the day students obtain their required hours.

School Apprenticeship

Grade Level: 11-12
Credit: 1
This one-credit-hour elective allows Juniors and Seniors an enriched experienced with various Owasso Public Schools departments throughout the district. Placements can include Instruction (teacher preparation, K-12), Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Communications, Information Technology, Athletics, and Fine Arts. Students must maintain excellent attendance, demonstrate academic eligibility, and be model citizens of Owasso Public Schools. Transportation is not required if the student is placed at Owasso High School but will be required for other Owasso Public School buildings throughout the community.  

Work-Study

Grade Level: 11-12
Credit: 1
Students must be currently employed and maintain employment throughout the course. Students can receive up to two hours of credit for Work-Study. Instead of attending classroom instruction two hours of the day, students will be able to use that time toward gainful employment. Students must be enrolled and have a 70% or better in two concurrent classes through Tulsa Community College to participate in work-study. It does not matter what days of the week or times the day students obtain their required hours.
